Pretty Head – UK Make Up Reviews

This mascara has great packaging and takes the shape of a stiletto heel, to be honest this is what attracted me to t he product in the first place. I paied about £10 for this from Boots, however have just looked and they currently have this for £7.82, which is pretty much a good cheap price for a leading brand mascara. As you can see from the picture the wand is thin and has bristles instead of plastic spikes or a plastic comb. According to Maybeline “the grip & extend brush grasps each eyelash and coats from every angle, the elastic formula stretches lashes for provocative length and the pro-Vitamin B-5 formula conditions and smoothes for black-patent shine.” Well you can definitely feel the wand gripping your eyelashes, insuring that they all get a good coating of the mascara; however after one coat I was very unimpressed and thought that it was a waste of money. I then applied a second and third coat and realised that it actually does give a really nice effect without any clumping. Y ou definitely get a nice fan effect and you can see that it lengthens your lashes, however it doesn’t make the lashes appear thicker and it doesn’t give you the patent effect advertised. The staying power isn’t too bad, after 6 hours my lashes are still black but I do have little bits of mascara now under my eyes and they have lost a bit of their firmness.

I would recommend this product for wedding makeup as it gives a nice result without being too obvious or for people who want a natural makeup effect. It would also be good for people who have thick lashes to begin with but who want something to make them look a bit longer and neater. Try looking on ebay for a cheap one (see link below) to see if you think it’s worth spending your money on.

Pros: Gives good length and a dark colour after a few coats, good value for money, the wand grips lashes to ensure an even coating, doesn’t clump or give you spider eyes.

Cons: Does not give you the patent lash effect as advertised, after a day of wearing it you start to get black specks under your eyes where its coming off the lashes and it has a smell that is a bit funky! I personally don’t mind the smell but others might, it also does nothing for thickness, if anything it made them look thinner.
